We’re excited to help you get qualified. To keep things running smoothly, here is the "fine print" in plain English.
Booking & Payment
Hold your spot: Any booking made via phone or email is provisional until we receive your full payment.
It’s official: Once payment lands, we’ll send you a confirmation email. This is your "green light" and will include all your important pre-course info.
Homework: Please give that pre-course info a solid read! It covers everything you need to know about your responsibilities and the schedule.
Cancellations & Refunds
We know life happens, but because our course sizes are limited, we have to stick to the following:
14+ days' notice: You’ll get a full refund or a free transfer to a new date.
Under 14 days' notice: No refunds or transfers are available.
On the day: If you don't show up or arrive too late to join in, we cannot offer a refund or a new date.
Passing Your Course
First Aid is a practical, "hands-on" qualification. To get your certificate, you’ll need to:
Be there: First Aid courses have strict mandatory contact hours. Arriving late or leaving early means we unfortunately cannot award your certificate.
Get involved: You’ll be assessed throughout the course. You just need to participate actively and meet the assessment criteria.
Note: If the assessment criteria aren't met or contact time is missed, the course fee still applies.
What We Ask of You
Identity: Please bring a signed card (like a credit card) or a photo ID (like a driving license) so we can verify who you are for your certificate.
Behavior: We’re all here to learn! We ask for respectful behavior toward everyone. Any malicious damage to equipment or the venue will need to be paid for.
Age: Our public courses are for those 18 and older.
Physical Requirements & Special Needs
First Aid can be a bit of a workout! You’ll be kneeling, twisting, and practicing CPR on the floor.
Unique Needs: If you have any specific requirements or need "reasonable adjustments" for the assessment, please let us know at least 10 working days before the course. We’ll work with the awarding body (ITC First Ltd) to support you.
Photos & Certificates
The Prize: Once you pass, your digital certificate usually arrives in your inbox within 3–4 weeks (provided the course is paid in full).
Say Cheese: We sometimes take photos for our website or social media. If you’re camera-shy or would prefer not to be included, just let us know!
The Legal Bit (Disclaimer)
While we take every precaution to keep you safe, Black Dog Adventure isn't liable for loss, damage, or injury during the course, except where the law says we must be. If we ever have to cancel a course ourselves due to unforeseen circumstances, we will contact you immediately and give you a full refund.
